Harry S. Truman Birthday was on May 8. Since he is from Independence, the city had all their Truman tours for a $1. Me, Evan, and Andrew went to the Truman library. We spent a long time upstairs. We should have spent alot more time downstairs. They have added alot of stuff since we were there last. Truman's daughter died not too long ago, I think that is how they were able to add all the family photos. It was great to see all the personal photos of the family. They had a current exhibit and it was all about some war I can't remember. We had to walk fast because we had to meet mom downtown to have some birthday cake -served by Harry Truman himself. They did have 3 of Truman's pianos and an old car.

Because of the $1 day entrance fee we went to the Vaille Mansion. The people that owned the home were very rich.
We went on a trolly ride around town and learned about some other musuems that I had no idea were even here. Then we went to the Bingham-Wagonner Mansion. It had 3 levels. We didn't learn as much because that day it was a self guided tour. In the backyard was where you mormon trail had gone through. We learned the word Swell that day. It was kind of hard to know exactly where the swells were but all it was a big groove in the ground where the wagon wheels were that was covered by grass.
So glad they had $1 day to all the musuems in town and we were able to experience all of this and this great town. There were a couple of other places that we weren't able to make it because of time.
On the trolley the guy was telling us all about things in town. He said that the Community of Christ Temple (we call it the ice cone building/be spiral on top) that the people there were "screwing" to get up to heaven. (it looks like a big screw) Maybe you had to be there because it was funny.
