This is the Place

No we haven't dropped off the face of the earth.  I know it has been awhile since we have updated.  I didn't know whether to go back and write what we have been doing for the past 6 months or just write what we have been doing currently.  So we are going back about a month.  Just suffice it to say that we haven't been doing much lately.  With everyone in school and the weather, we pretty much stayed close to home since Christmas.  So for my birthday back in May we decided to venture outdoors.  It was a beautiful day and we had never been to "This is The Place".  We had fun and decided it is a place we want to go back since we didn't get to see it all.  We didn't know it was an all day thing and that there was so much to see.  We thought we could do it in a couple hours - not. Plus since the season hadn't really started for them alot of the places were closed for about another week or so.  So we either didn't have time to see it all or it was closed.  The nice thing about it was the weather was perfect - not too hot and not too cold.  Plus there weren't alot of peole there so we didn't have to wait in line anywhere.

The original ZCMI store.

Where they started the Deseret New newspaper. He showed us how they made the newspaper.

The Huntsman Hotel that was an ice cream store and lunch counter.

Fire station

No, I don't think they would have made it as pioneers.

The were making donuts here and we ate some and they were yummy. We could have eaten more but didn't want to pay the price.

Would not want bricks as one of my walls.

Time for dinner.

A piano in the Brigham Young home that they brought with them from Nauvoo.

Brigham Young's summer home.  Cutest house ever.  There were no hallways in the home kind of weird.  The porch went completely around the home.  There was a gazebo in the back yard.  Not a big home, but a cute home from the outside.

We are thankful for the pioneers and their sacrifice and making it possible for us to live here now.  We are eternally grateful for them and for all that they did for us.  Happy Birthday to me.
